Add money wvu mounty bounty12/20/2023 The Rec Center can be pretty busy, especially at popular times. I know when I was a student I really didn't have dining dollars so Mountie Bounty was my go-to for that cup of coffee or a snack between classes. To be honest, I'm not sure where all dining dollars are accepted, and how much overlap there is. Mountie Bounty is pretty much accepted anywhere on-campus, but off-campus is pretty rare. When the system is expected to be down for an "extended period" they do roll out university buses, but they're slow to get going (it's not like they have drivers idling on standby). If you're curious, you can check the PRT's current status on their web page here: or they also have a Twitter account they post status changes to. WVU Transportation is working on a lot of improvements, but they're slow going. The system is going on 50 years old now (the system went online in 72') and in the last 5 years or so has really started to show its age. Unfortunately, the PRT does have a tendency to break down fairly often, especially in inclement weather. I really don't know much about the ZipCars so can't really comment on them. (When I was a freshman a decade ago, and living in towers, we just relied on older (upperclassmen) friends of our to pick us up when we were going somewhere.) I'm not sure on Uber as I've only used them a few times and don't know how Morgantown's rates compare to else where. ![]() There are the city bus routes which he can use his student ID for, but they're your typical city buses. The PRT is closed on Sunday, and only operates 9:30am-5pm on Saturday. Weekend transportation can be limited between the campuses. Thanks for any insights that can help me assess and balance his takes on these matters. The rec center is so crowded in the late afternoon/early evening - particularly the fitness/weight room, that it’s a waste of time trying to go at this time. There’s really not much use for Mountie Bounty beyond books/bookstore purchases, as there’s not all that many vendors/restaurants that accept it, that don’t already accept dining dollars. ![]() The PRT has breakdowns fairly often, and impacted him getting to class on time at least 3-4 times in the fall, despite allowing almost an hour. The ZipCars are often damaged or being repaired, and not available. It’s not the easiest to get back forth between downtown and Evansdale on weekends, due to limited PRT service, inconsistent bus service and what seems to be really high Uber fees. He does have a bit of a penchant for painting things with quite a wide brush though, and I’m just wondering how much that’s the case here. I do need to note that he does love going to WVU, and is generally a positive and honest kid. I just find it a bit hard to believe some of the following narratives I hear from him.
